Twin Cities Weather Update: Strong Winds and Light Snow Expected Until Midnight Sunday

Minneapolis, MN — Strong northwesterly winds and a chance of accumulating snow are creating hazardous conditions across Minnesota and western Wisconsin today.

According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, a cold front moving west to east is bringing wind gusts reaching up to 50 mph, especially in western Minnesota. These gusts are expected to persist throughout Sunday, gradually decreasing by midnight.

The strongest winds are forecast in areas like Marshall, Redwood Falls, and Alexandria, with hourly gusts peaking near 45 mph between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Meanwhile, central Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin — including Saint Cloud, Rice Lake, and Ladysmith — could see up to one inch of snow accumulation…
