Minneapolis Police Seize Illegally Modified Handguns After Wrong-Way Traffic Stop Triggers Chase

Minneapolis streets witnessed a harrowing scene after a vehicle was stopped for driving the wrong way down a one-way street, leading police to a startling discovery. The Minneapolis Police Department detailed the event in a recent social media post, revealing that a gun was visibly protruding from beneath the front passenger seat as officers approached the car.

During the stop, one passenger was taken into custody for being in possession of a handgun modified with a switch, transforming it into an automatic weapon – an illegal alteration. As described on the department’s Facebook page, “The front passenger was arrested and booked for having a handgun with a switch that turned it into an automatic machine gun.” A second handgun was also found within easy reach, concealed in the car’s center console.

It didn’t end with the discovery of the firearms. The driver, in a bid to evade capture, ignited a chase that required the full breadth of the police department’s resources. Attempted to flee, the drivers were finally cornered and apprehended thanks to a joint expedition consisting of the regular officers, a K9 unit, and a drone team, with the latter using a thermal camera to track the suspect’s movements…
