Search warrant turns up cache of weapons in teen’s bedroom

ST PAUL, MINN. (KARE 11) -A St. Paul teen faces a dozen separate criminal counts after a search warrant turned up nine firearms, ammunition and devices that turn conventional weapons into machine guns.

The juvenile petition filed against the 17-year-old details how the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office gun unit served a search warrant at a home on the 900 block of Burr Street last Friday. Deputies saw the teen exit the home and climb into a vehicle, at which point they approached and took him into custody.

Court documents say the suspect was wearing what law enforcement calls “a crossbody bag” with a Glock 10mm handgun inside. Investigators say the gun was fitted with an auto-sear switch, which turns a conventional weapon into a machine gun, a green laser site and an extended magazine.
