Blaine High School Senior Mary Zins Earns Spot at Prestigious National Youth Science Camp

Coon Rapids’ own Mary Zins, a high school senior at Blaine High School, is quickly becoming recognized for her accomplishments and potential in the field of science. As part of a team project, Zins has been deeply immersed in the creation of an automated pill bottle opener, a device aimed to aid individuals with hand mobility issues. This innovation was highlighted in an interview where Zins explained her work at the school’s Center for Engineering, Mathematics and Science. “My team project is building an automated pill bottle opener for people with hand mobility issues,” she told the City of Coon Rapids.

The industrious teenager has racked up multiple academic distinctions, including being named an AP Scholar of Distinction. Zins’ endeavors also shone through at the Minnesota Business Professionals of America Leadership Conference where she secured third place in the state “for the fundamentals of web design which is HTML and CSS coding,” she said, as stated by the City of Coon Rapids.

Her dedication has recently earned Zins one of two coveted spots for Minnesota students to attend the National Youth Science Camp. It’s not only a recognition of her hard work but also promises to further to enrich her educational journey. “I am super thankful for the opportunity and I am super excited for everything that it is going to bring me in the future and the whole experience over the summer,” Zins expressed in a statement made by the City of Coon Rapids…
