Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) – A Minnesota man has been ordered to prison for his role in the death of an infant last year.
According to court records, 20-year-old Edwin Trudeau of Minnetonka was the boyfriend of 21-year-old Esperanza Harding, who was previously sentenced to 32 years in prison for murdering her infant son. She entered a guilty plea to second-degree intentional murder in December.
The criminal complaint in the case says Minneapolis police responded to a hospital in March of last year concerning a report of a missing infant. The court document says Harding claimed that her child had died of natural causes in the hospital a few days earlier.
The charges against her stated that the hospital had no record of the child being admitted and the Medical Examiner’s office had no record of the victim. Due to the suspicious nature of her claims, investigators interviewed Harding and the criminal complaint says she eventually admitted that she drowned the baby in a bathtub at a hotel in Bloomington on February 28, 2024.
According to the court document, Harding told investigators that she later wrapped up the infant’s body, placed it in a backpack, and threw it into a trash dumpster.
