U of M faces ‘stark’ financial future as it announces huge tuition hike, 7% program cut

The University of Minnesota is proposing a 7% cut to its academic programming and a massive hike in tuition fees in the face of a “stark” and “uncertain” financial future.

The university intends to increase tuition fees by 6.5% for in-state and out-of-state undergraduates and in-state graduates, and by 7.5% for out-of-state graduates.

That would see tuition fees for in-state undergrads rise to more than $16,100 starting this fall. Per the Star Tribune, it would be the largest tuition increase in 14 years.
