Tornadoes, giant hail hit Minnesota during Monday’s severe storms

Severe thunderstorms resulted in at least two confirmed tornados in Minnesota on Monday, with huge hail and torrential rain also causing major problems.

The National Weather Service reports that a tornado touched down between Nicollet and North Mankato in the south of the state, and there was another confirmed tornado in the Brainerd Lakes area.

An image of the southern twister was posted by the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office. As of Tuesday morning we’re still awaiting damage reports.

The Brainerd Dispatch meanwhile is reporting extensive tree damage caused by a tornado in the Nisswa area on Monday afternoon, though it appears that properties have been spared and no injuries were reported.
