Edina woman charged after high-speed DWI stop in Eden Prairie

An Edina woman is facing nine charges, including two gross misdemeanors for third-degree DWI, after she was allegedly caught speeding on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie while intoxicated.

Madelena Amelia Perez, 20, was arrested shortly after 2:30 a.m. on June 14 when Eden Prairie police said they observed her SUV racing another vehicle near Shady Oak Road at speeds approaching 80 mph.

According to the criminal complaint, Perez admitted to speeding but denied racing. Officers noted signs of intoxication, and a preliminary breath test measured her blood alcohol content at 0.13.
