Hymie’s Records to close after 37 years on Lake Street

One of Minneapolis‘ great record stores is saying farewell.

Hymie’s Records has announced that it will close on June 28 after 37 years of slinging records on Lake Street.

“Hymie’s is going out of business,” reads a social media post from the store. “It’s all on sale: shelving, artwork, turntables, even the jukebox. Most of our inventory has already sold… records that remain are our $3 and $1 albums and our 45s: get them for a song!”

Opened in 1988, Hymie’s has been a haven for Twin Cities collectors and has even garnered praise in national media for its expansive selection and welcoming atmosphere.
