Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) has implemented the use of new biometric facial recognition technology in an effort to speed along busy customs checkpoints.
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which owns and operates MSP, has partnered with U.S. Customs and Border Protection to become the 12th U.S. airport or port of entry to use the new system, called Enhanced Passenger Processing (EPP).
The new system went into use last week.
EPP uses facial comparison technology to verify passenger identities, confirm U.S. citizenship status, conduct law enforcement vetting, and create a crossing record in the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) system, the MAC details in an announcement.…
