With the arrival of summer, the Maple Grove Police Department has taken to social media to urge residents to adopt a nightly ‘9 P.M. Lock-Up’ routine, aiming to bolster community safety and thwart property crimes. The department suggests several measures that can be as routine as brushing one’s teeth: removing valuables from cars, locking all vehicles, securing doors and windows, closing and locking garages, and illuminating the exterior of one’s home. The police department’s post, dated July 11th, implores residents to keep an eye out for suspicious activities and doesn’t hesitate to advise a 911 call if something seems amiss.
These suggested precautions are simple yet potentially effective in decreasing the odds of becoming a victim of crime during a season when longer days often translate to a more relaxed guard.
