Minneapolis officials to consider Northside amphitheater plan Tuesday

A longstanding effort to build an 8,000-seat amphitheater on the riverfront in north Minneapolis could take a major step forward this week.

The Business, Housing and Zoning Committee of the Minneapolis City Council will be asked to consider 16 items related to the proposed redevelopment Tuesday, including the authorization of a $12.5 million state grant, the appropriation of funds related to design and construction, and several long-term leases.

The 1:30 p.m. meeting will include a public hearing, giving the community a chance to share their thoughts on the project with city officials.
