Man who killed friend accidentally while playing with gun avoids prison

A Brooklyn Park man will avoid jail after he pleaded guilty to fatally shooting his friend in what was described as a “tragic accident.”

Anwar Hussein Mohamed, 20, was sentenced to four years of probation, including 364 days in the Adult Corrections Facility, after pleading guilty to 2nd-degree manslaughter in the Oct. 12, 2024 death of Nebil Ahmed Omer.
