Some Minnesota business owners are implementing higher menu prices and credit card fees in response to a price transparency law banning so-called “junk fees” at restaurants.
The law went into effect in January of this year and is meant to give consumers a clearer picture of what they’ll pay upfront.
He explained that he faces complaints from customers head-on, but raising prices is the only way to keep the doors open.“I do understand the customers. They’re 100% right, but somehow we have to also keep up with the inflation and higher prices,” Gongordu said. “The profit margins for the restaurants are so low. It’s like three to five percent. You have to make it up somehow to be able to pay your employees and other expenses.”…
