A man accused of killing two people and shooting at three others near three separate homeless encampments across Minneapolis last year is now facing more than three decades in prison.
Joshua Anthony Jones, 37, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to two counts of second-degree murder for the Sept. 18 deaths of Roland Littleowl, 20, and Robert Brown, 39. As part of a plea agreement, he is expected to receive a 35-year prison sentence.
In May, a grand jury returned a first-degree murder indictment in Brown’s death; by taking a plea, Jones avoids a potential life sentence for that charge. Jones also faced attempted murder charges in connection with the three victims who survived the shooting spree — two who were hit and a third who Jones missed.
