Convicted axe murderer David Brom released from prison

A Rochester man convicted of murdering his parents and two of his siblings with an axe is out of prison, released to a Twin Cities halfway house this week.

David Brom was convicted of murdering his parents, his 14-year-old sister, and his 10-year-old brother in February 1988 in Olmsted County, when he was 16 years old.

He was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences and has served more than 35 years behind bars, but a 2023 change in Minnesota law abolishing life sentences without parole sentences for juveniles allowed for his eventual release.

While living in the halfway house and on work release, Brom will receive case management and supervision services, including GPS monitoring. According to a report by KTTC, he will work a normal job with regular access to the public…
