In a turn of events that could almost be mistaken for a plot point in a TV police procedural, the Minneapolis Police Department recently aided in the recovery of a $3,000 bike snatched from a YMCA.
The drama unfolded when the theft victim chanced upon her stolen bicycle being offered up on Facebook Marketplace. With no intention to let this slide, she promptly contacted the seller to feign interest—and then made the crucial call to the authorities to, hopefully, reclaim the two-wheeled treasure. According to a social media post from the Minneapolis Police Department, officers from the 3rd Precinct swooped in to meet with the seller, a move that ultimately led to the bike being recovered and returned to its rightful owner. The seller claimed to have purchased it from someone else for just a few hundred dollars.
