Fridley police try new approach to solving crime with automated license plate readers in places never tried before

The City of Fridley, in Anoka County, awarded grants to five businesses that were interested in putting up police department automated license plate readers on their property.

The grant covers $3,000 dollars, for each reader for the first year in the program. Partial financial assistance to the business continues into the second year of the program.
