6-week runway closure begins at MSP Airport on Monday

Another runway closure is beginning at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP).

The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which owns and operates MSP, has announced it will close the south parallel runway at MSP beginning Aug. 18.

The closure commences the second and last phase of the airport’s runway safety improvement project, the first phase of which wrapped up in the spring.

The second phase is scheduled to take place from Aug. 18 through Sept. 26, per an MAC announcement. The work will be focused on the 10,000-foot, east-west Runway 12R-30L on the south side of Terminal 1…
