Minneapolis Park Police Officer Identified After Being Injured in Arrest Struggle at Mueller Park
Minneapolis, MN (MinnesotaNow)– The Minneapolis Park Police officer injured earlier this week during a tense arrest at Mueller Park has been identified as Officer Daniel McShane.
McShane, who’s been in law enforcement for 37 years and joined the Minneapolis Park Police in 2020, was hurt Tuesday afternoon while responding to a sexual assault report involving children at the south Minneapolis park.
According to Minneapolis Police, McShane got to the scene just after 1 p.m. on August 12 and gathered details on the suspect. He then spotted 28-year-old Tazrick Tobias Nall in an alley between Bryant Ave. S and Colfax Ave. S, matching the description given.
When McShane tried to detain Nall, police say Nall refused to cooperate and fought back. The two ended up on the ground during the struggle. McShane used his Taser, but it didn’t stop Nall, who then allegedly tried to pull McShane’s gun from its holster and managed to fire it…
