Franklin County K9 unit returns after bringing comfort to Minneapolis shooting victims

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Members of the Crisis K9 Unit with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office have returned home after serving several days on a mission to provide comfort in Minneapolis following last week’s deadly school shooting.

K9s Titus and Scooby, along with their handlers, and Sgt. Darrah Metz responded to the city based on a request the office received, Sheriff Dallas Baldwin said.

“The whole purpose of these dogs are to just go offer comfort and to help people at a time of need,” Baldwin said. “Obviously, when you have a terrible incident like in Minnesota, there’s a lot of people that just need to have some comfort.”

Two students were killed and 21 others, including 18 children and three adults, were hurt in the shooting at the Annunciation Catholic Church last week…
