Charges: Man ran red light at high speed, causing crash that killed Minneapolis women

A St. Paul man has received his first charges in connection to an alleged crime spree in Minneapolis Thursday morning, which culminated in a crash on the city’s North Side that left two women dead.

Troy Mike Payton, 45, is charged with two counts of fleeing police resulting in death, and one of causing great bodily harm while fleeing police. The charges state he ran a red light on Olson Memorial Highway at Penn Avenue North, t-boning a vehicle containing Liberty Borg and Marisa Casebolt, both 25 and from Minneapolis.

The women were pronounced dead at the scene after suffering “catastrophic” injuries. Borg’s 6-year-old son was also hospitalized with injuries that included two broken legs and a traumatic brain injury.

Payton is currently being held at Hennepin County Jail with his bail set at $4 million. His criminal history includes convictions for gun possession, fleeing police, assault, vehicle tampering, auto theft, and driving with a suspended or revoked license…
