Three businesses in Crystal found selling alcohol to minors

Three Crystal businesses, Cajun Kitchen, Hope Liquors and Tequila Town, were caught selling alcohol to minors when the police department did a compliance check last December, according to the department.

The usual punishment for the first violation is a $750 fine and a one-day suspension of the liquor license. But at the Sept. 2 city council meeting, representatives from each business came to ask for leniency in the fine or the suspension.

The owner of Hope Liquor, which is on Willow Bend, thanked the council for the learning opportunity that came from that December day. But since opening her shop, the owner, Missy Hope, has been experiencing stress from theft, she said. A lot of the stealing is done by kids under 21, she added…
