The City of Plymouth is alerting residents after their water resources staff spotted blue-green algae on Medicine Lake.
City crews recently observed the blue-green algal bloom on the lake, and although water testing has not been completed, they are still alerting people to take precautions and have posted signs around the water.
They advise avoiding any contact with lake water, including touching, swallowing, or inhaling water droplets, as “exposure to algal toxins may cause severe illness or discomfort to both people and pets.”
