Bride and Groom Left ‘Speechless’ by 80-Lb. Butter Sculpture Wedding Surprise (Exclusive)

A bride and groom were left “speechless” at their wedding rehearsal dinner when they were surprised with a realistic butter sculpture of themselves.

Zanny Lannin has been going to the Minnesota State Fair with her family her “whole life,” so when her brother and sister were contemplating what to get her and her then-fiancé, Alex Mace, for their rehearsal dinner at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis on July 18, they knew it had to tie back to the fun fair.

In January, Lannin’s sister, Sara, reached out to Gerry Kulzer, who is the butter sculptor for Midwest Dairy’s Princess Kay of the Milky Way program. For years, he’s carved likenesses of all 10 of the dairy princess finalists’ heads out of butter for the Minnesota State Fair. Having witnessed this talent, Sara asked Kulzer if he could create a dual sculpture of Lannin and Mace.

“My family is proudly Minnesotan, and we’re longtime State Fair fans. My sister always loves visiting the dairy building to see the Princess Kay butter sculptures, and I’d like to make her feel like a princess on her own wedding day!” Sara wrote in her initial email inquiry to Kulzer…
