Man previously convicted of killing Deshaun Hill will be retried as court tosses state appeal

Cody Logan Fohrenkam will officially get a retrial in the murder of Minneapolis North High School student Deshaun Hill Jr., according to a ruling from the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

The Court of Appeals in May of 2024 ruled that Fohrenkam should get a new trial because some of his statements used in the trial were made during an unconstitutional detention.

During that trial, Fohrenkam was found guilty of second-degree murder and was later sentenced to over 38 years in prison…
