Minneapolis Police Urge Residents to Adopt Crime Prevention Tactics in October Awareness Campaign

The Minneapolis Police Department has taken to social media to encourage residents to actively engage in crime prevention tactics during Crime Prevention Month. In a recent Facebook post, officials provided a list of recommendations aimed at reducing vehicle-related crimes, a concern that has been prominently noted in the area. The tips included always locking one’s car, removing keys, not leaving valuables visible, and parking in well-lit areas.

The department also urged the community to register their surveillance cameras, a move that would ostensibly empower investigators to quickly contact individuals about crimes occurring in their vicinity. “Together, we can prevent crime and build a safer Minneapolis,” read the department’s rallying call, as listed on the post dated October 13th, 2025.
