RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Firefighter Johnny Crow is making history as part of the first all-Native American fire crew in Minneapolis.
Based at Fire Station 6, the “A” shift, Engine 10, is comprised of a crew of four that includes Captain Michael Graves of the Red Lake Nation, Fire Motor Operator Jessie Strong of the Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe, and firefighters Johnny Crow of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, and Bobby Headbird of the Leech Lake band of Ojibwe.
They are the MFD’s second busiest fire crew, answering calls for service in one of the areas most vibrant, yet historically underserved communities, predominately made up of indigenous people…
