HENNEPIN COUNTY, Minn. — The Hennepin County Jail is fully staffed for the first time in years, allowing the state to lift some restrictions previously placed on the facility.
Hennepin County Sheriff Dawanna Witt credited community outreach, a streamlined onboarding process and new training programs for helping improve recruitment efforts.
“We are a reflection of what’s going on in the community,” Witt said. “Public safety and public health are intertwined. When we’re looking at violence, and then the chemical health, behavioral health issues, all of that bottled up into a facility, that’s why it’s important to have more staff.”…
