Key witness takes stand in re-trial of suspect in real estate agent’s murder

MINNEAPOLIS — Former Hennepin County probation agent Elsa Segura took the witness stand late in the day Monday to testify against her former boyfriend, Lyndon Wiggins, the alleged mastermind in the murder of Twin Cities real estate agent Monique Baugh.

Segura pleaded guilty last year to kidnapping and received a 20-year sentence, admitting then that she set up the phony house showing with Baugh that allowed her to be kidnapped and murdered.

Segura’s plea did not include an agreement to testify against Wiggins. She was subpoenaed and compelled by the judge to testify, and she did not seem like a willing participant. She answered a lot of questions by saying she couldn’t remember…
