Air traffic controllers spoke to travelers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Tuesday about going unpaid while working during the federal government shutdown.
Members of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association passed out leaflets outside Terminal 1. Jerah Kavoosi, a union organizer, said many air traffic controllers are working mandatory overtime and not getting paid for it.
“We’re people with jobs, and we’re just like anybody: We have jobs to pay our bills, to put food on the table, to take care of our kids,” Kavoosi said. “We believe that we put in the time we’re working, and we believe that we should get paid for the work that we do.”…
