Eden Prairie police chase reaches 120 mph before crash; Woodbury teen charged

An 18-year-old Woodbury man has been charged with felony fleeing a peace officer after allegedly leading Eden Prairie police on a high-speed chase that reached more than 120 mph and ended in a rollover crash early Oct. 31.

According to a criminal complaint filed Nov. 3 in Hennepin County District Court, the driver, identified as Tobis Antione Williams Jr., 18, of Woodbury, was observed by an Eden Prairie officer at about 2:50 a.m. Oct. 31 after merging onto Highway 169 from Interstate 494 near Eden Prairie. The officer reported the vehicle was swerving between lanes and traveling about 80 mph.

When the officer activated emergency lights to stop the vehicle, Williams allegedly accelerated to more than 120 mph, passing other cars on the shoulder before exiting onto Highway 101, where he briefly drove the wrong way before crashing into a median and rolling over several times, the complaint states…
