The Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee and three city council members came together on Friday to push for consequences for any Minneapolis police officer who violates the city’s separation ordinance.
The separation ordinance limits the cities and the Minneapolis Police Department’s cooperation with federal immigration authorities. Proposed consequences include unpaid suspension, termination, fines and the right for residents to sue, MIRAC member Myrka Zambrano said.
