WOODBURY, Minn. — A Woodbury man will serve a 30-year sentence in federal prison after being convicted in a sextortion scheme for more than two years.
Prosecutors say 38-year old Timothy Lennard Gebhart carried out the scheme from July of 2021 to September of 2023. It involved Gebhart pretending to be a teen, or someone even younger, posting on social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat while targeting girls as young as 12.
Court documents say the defendant would befriend his victims and then convince them to send explicit pictures and videos. With some, prosecutors allege, he would seek out in-person sexual encounters…
