All of the cats that faced being euthanized if foster homes were not found due to lack of capacity at Minneapolis’ primary animal shelter have been spared.
In a Friday update, volunteer-run Friends of Minneapolis Animal Care and Control (MACC) confirmed that the remaining 18 “at-risk” cats that still needed fostering before a 2 p.m. Friday deadline had been “tagged by rescue partners and will be leaving the shelter shortly.”
The at-risk cats were among 47 rescued from a hoarding situation last month, but their rescue came at a time the MACC shelter was already experiencing an “explosion” in the cat population that left the shelter at capacity.
