On Friday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced five additional arrests, in addition to the 12 made in Minneapolis earlier this week.
Labelling those arrested as the “worst of the worst,” ICE said operation “Metro Surge” is targeting undocumented immigrants who have previously been convicted of a crime in the U.S.
According to ICE, the following five people were arrested:
- Abdi Gelle Mohamed, from Somalia: Convicted for sexual abuse of a minor. Minnesota court records show the conviction stems from a 1998 case.
- Andriu Javier Padron-Chacare, from Venezuela: ICE officials said he is a Tren de Aragua gang member, convicted of theft.
- Job Catani Cardenas, from Ecuador: ICE stated he was convicted of domestic assault; however, court records show the domestic assault charge was dismissed, and he was convicted of a gross misdemeanor harassment charge.
- Humberto Disla Sarita, from the Dominican Republic: Convicted of conspiracy to import at least 50kg of cocaine.
- Ernesta Vides-Cabrera, from Guatemala: Convicted for driving under the influence and assault
There are no publicly available records for Padron-Chacare, Sarita or Vides-Cabrera, although it is possible they were convicted in another state…
