Minnesota Nonprofits Face Federal Scrutiny

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is conducting an extensive review of Minnesota-based Somali nonprofit groups allegedly linked to a broad COVID-19 relief fraud scheme that prosecutors said led to the misuse of public funds.

The inquiry is focused on organizations involved in pandemic aid programs, including Feeding Our Future, which was central to a reported $1 billion fraud case. The SBA said several individuals and nonprofits implicated in the scandal also received Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans and other federal assistance.
