Two Arrested in Minneapolis Traffic Stop for Firearms and Suspected Drugs

A routine traffic stop in downtown Minneapolis escalated when police uncovered a firearm and suspected narcotics. According to the Minneapolis Police Department’s social media post, officers from the 1st Precinct had pulled over a vehicle near East 14th Street and 10th Avenue South for running a stop sign. Upon approaching the car, a handgun in plain view led to a deeper search.

The search of the vehicle resulted in arrests of both occupants after police found what appeared to be crack cocaine. The post detailed that neither individual had a permit to carry the gun, and further, one of the persons apprehended was wanted on a felony warrant.
