Twin Ports Rapid Response, the watchdogs of local ICE operations

Community members have seen and heard about ICE agents operating across the country, including here in Minnesota. From the Somali population in the Twin Cities, to people living on the Iron Range. As immigration enforcement continues, grassroots efforts from groups like the Twin Ports Rapid Response team are gathering residents to remind them of their constitutional rights.

According to their members, the organization acts as whistleblowers to ICE agents who may be conducting arrests in the Northland. Charlotte Frantz says the group’s goal is to be witnesses to immigration enforcement actions, establish an emergency response network, and spread constitutional awareness.

“We see what’s happening in other communities and the kind of illegal seizure of persons without due process. Without asking about what their status actually is, and it alarms us,” Frantz said. “There are other groups of people in surrounding communities that are also organizing. We have sort of a network of communications networks so that we can be in touch with each other. It just increases community safety for everyone.”…
