Man arrested after standoff that sparked Anoka County shelter-in-place

A man was arrested on Friday following an 18-hour-long standoff with authorities near Elk River.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded at around 6 p.m. to a report of a man wanted on multiple outstanding warrants who was at a home on the 18800 block of Jasper Street Northwest in Nowthen.

When deputies arrived at the scene they were allegedly met by a 39-year-old man who issued “threats of violence to shoot deputies.”…
