A woman accused of playing a central role in an elaborate internet vehicle sales scheme is wanted on a felony warrant after a buyer in Eden Prairie was defrauded of nearly $191,000, court records show.
Axenia Dubceac, 31, is charged in Hennepin County District Court with felony theft by swindle and felony receiving stolen property, according to a criminal complaint filed Dec. 17. Court records do not list a current address for Dubceac.
According to the complaint, Dubceac was a key participant in a sophisticated scam involving fake websites purporting to sell luxury or classic vehicles. The sites used the names of real dealerships to induce buyers to send large payments for vehicles that did not exist.
