Federal agent briefly kidnapped during DHS operation

A federal agent with Homeland Security Investigations was briefly carried inside a suspect’s vehicle during an enforcement operation in the Minneapolis suburbs before local officers recovered the agent and arrested the suspects. Authorities said the agent was at one point thrown from the vehicle and later ended up inside it during the struggle.

Details of the incident

A Plymouth Police Department dispatcher received reports of a federal agent being taken inside a vehicle near the 4300 block of Nathan Lane North in Plymouth, with the situation moving toward the New Hope City Center area.

DHS told news outlets that agents were attempting to detain Nigerian national Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, whose student visa had expired. Bamigboye allegedly refused to exit the car and resisted while a woman drove.

According to DHS, when agents tried to remove Bamigboye, the driver sped off — knocking one agent from the vehicle and carrying another inside. Multiple 911 calls came from inside the car during the incident…
