A winter storm watch has been issued in the Twin Cities, where heavy snow is expected to fall across much of Sunday, while strong winds could bring blizzard conditions to central parts of Minnesota.
The watch goes into effect from 6 a.m. Sunday and lasts through 12 p.m. Monday as a winter storm arrives bringing accumulating snow and wind gusts of between 35-45 mph that the National Weather Service warns could create whiteout conditions on major highways including Interstates 94 and 90.
The watch in eastern Minnesota – including the Twin Cities – warns of “snow accumulations in excess of 4 to 6 inches,” with the heaviest snow falling in the metro early-to-mid Sunday afternoon…
