Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center issues safety alert about fraudulent sober living facilities

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis community leaders are issuing a public safety alert amid concerns over a possible sober services scam.

The Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center (MIWRC) says it has received multiple reports of addicts being targeted by outside groups claiming they can take them to treatment facilities outside the state that don’t necessarily exist.

MIWRC President Ruth Buffalo says it’s unclear how many people have been taken, but calls the pattern “alarming.”…
