Man sentenced to life in prison in real estate agent’s 2019 murder

Lyndon Akeem Wiggins, 40, was sentenced on Dec. 22 to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2019 murder of Monique Baugh.

The jury delivered guilty verdicts on Nov. 3 on the following charges: one count of aiding/abetting first-degree premeditated murder, one count of aiding/abetting first-degree premeditated attempted murder, one count of aiding/abetting kidnapping to commit great bodily harm and one count of aiding/abetting first-degree murder while committing the crime of kidnapping.

“[The] sentencing is the culmination of six years of hearings, trials, appeals, and retrials through which Monique’s family has suffered,” Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said. “Mr. Wiggins was responsible for Monique’s death, and we are holding him accountable. He will not harm another member of this community. My thoughts are with Monique’s family, and I hope this sentencing provides some measure of comfort and closure.”…
