Free Admission at 8 Minnesota Historical Society Sites – Saturday, January 10th

The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is offering free admission to 8 of its historic sites and museums on Saturday, January 10th, 2026!

Why? January 10th is “MNHS Winter Free Admission Day.”

There are 26 historic locations that are part of the Minnesota Historical Society. Some are free, but many do charge admission. Here is a list of places that usually charge admission but will be FREE on January 10th:

METRO

  • James J. Hill House, St. Paul (10:00am – 5:00pm)
  • Historic Fort Snelling, St. Paul (10:00am – 4:00pm)
  • Mill City Museum, Minneapolis (10:00am – 4:00pm)
  • Minnesota History Center, St. Paul (10:00am – 4:00pm)

GREATER MINNESOTA

  • Oliver Kelley Farm, Elk River, MN (10:00am – 4:00pm)
  • Forest History Center, Grand Rapids (10:00am – 4:00pm)
  • Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post, Onamia (10:00am – 5:00pm)
  • Split Rock Lighthouse, Two Harbors (10:00am – 4:00pm)

There are four days each program year that the MNHS offers free admission. The next one after this is in the spring.

Note that not all standard programming and tours will be available during these free days…
