Autism treatment centers in Minnesota grappling with Medicaid payment delays

Justin and Andrea Swenson say their 13-year-old son Bentley, who is non-verbal on the Autism spectrum, is doing better every day at the Holland Autism Center in Minnetonka.

“They give one-on-one therapy to Bentley,” Andrea says. “In the school district, they can’t provide that for him.”

“We see him communicating with us through a program called ‘Spell to Speak,’” Justin adds. “So, we’re reading, and he’s answering questions now. We’re able to ask him, ‘How are you? How are you feeling? Are you hurting?’”…
