Matt Serwe says it could get icy Sunday afternoon

Here’s your Saturday evening forecast for January 3, 2026 from Meteorologist Matt Serwe.

Clouds and a few flurries stick around tonight. Warmer air is moving into the region, and it is riding over the large pool of cold temperatures. Temperatures stay in the 20s through most of Sunday. This is the set-up for freezing drizzle and sleet that could make roads slippery in the Twin Cities.

If you have errands to run, get them done before noon. We are dry through Sunday morning. By midday, a mix of freezing drizzle, sleet, and light snow showers are possible in the Twin Cities. There is not a lot of moisture, but it only takes a little freezing drizzle to make icy spots on roads. Those icy spots are possible through Sunday evening as the mix changes to mostly snow showers…
