MINNEAPOLIS — Since Operation Metro Surge began, federal immigration officials have arrested 2,400 people, NBC News reports.
That new number comes from Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin. On Monday, McLaughlin said on X that sanctuary politicians are the reason that DHS surged into Minnesota.
Operation Metro Surge began on Nov. 29, and on Jan. 5, more than 2,000 additional ICE agents were deployed to Minnesota, according to reporting by NBC News.
