Anti-ICE protesters stage sit-in at Twin Cities Target store

A large group of protesters gathered inside Target in West St. Paul on Monday morning, where they sang anti-ICE songs in an effort to get Target officials to condemn U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations ongoing in Minnesota.

The group chanted “Abolish ICE,” “Try to do the right thing,” and “Bring the families home,” with the group’s goal, according to a participant who spoke with social justice group Humanizing Through Story, to have Target bar ICE from using its parking lots and to publicly address the arrest of two employees who were working at the Target in Richfield.

“A group of people came to sing and to speak out, asking Target Corporation to stand up to the terror that has descended by ICE agents here in Minnesota,” the protester told Humanizing Through Story.

“Target has been collaborating with ICE, letting them use their parking lots and not saying anything when their staff has been detained by ICE, both immigrant and citizen staff members. Not saying anything when small children have been abandoned in Target’s parking lot, when their parents are detained by ICE.”…
